This is a wonderful part of living for God. In Matt. 26:26. At the feast of the Passover in these scriptures we see Jesus teaching the disciples that the ceremonial part was coming to an end. That the reality of being a part of the kingdom was coming to life. When the master broke the bread He told them, take, eat this is my body, (representing the word of God, Jn. 1:14) He then took the cup gave thanks, and told them to drink all of it, for it was the blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin. (This represents the spirit of Christ being received into the hearts of men and woman, and their sins being washed away. I Jn. 5:6). He told us to do this in remembrance of me. We hold this ordinance sacred, in that we are outwardly showing others our fellowship with Christ, by being a partaker of the word of God, and receiving the spirit of God. Just has Christ broke the bread, we too must be broken down by the word of God. It is important to note that to partake of the ordinance unworthily, could result in sickness, weakness, and sleep. This is shown to us in I Cor. 11 28-30. God help us to examine ourselves prior to be a partaker of communion.
