Many believe that the ordinance of washing each other’s feet was merely a custom. What we must see here is that it was not a custom but a commandment from the Lord. It was the truest act of humility and servitude. As Christians we must submit ourselves to one another as Christ submitted Himself to the Father. In Jn. 13: 15 Jesus said He gave us an example and that we should do as He had done. God help us to humble ourselves at our brothers feet just as the Master did.
